In the book Madness and Civilization, Foucault proposed the concept of “discourse”. According to Foucault, meaning and meaning practice are constructed within the scope of discourse since people live in a disciplined and institutionalised society. All social practices are endued with meanings, which shape and affect our behaviours and actions. How can people better understand themselves in the culture? Profound reflections on this problem have triggered my interests to explore and investigate the human behaviours under structuralism. In this series of works, rope is used as the main clue to mean bondage, contact, and extend. Via displaying the film devices and mixed material installation, the relationship between time, space and human behaviors are expounded.

The subject of the video comes from children’s hand rope play, in which movements of endless repetition and infinite loop between hands is connected by time and space.
